Prepare to face obstacles
Psalm 52, in particular, is a Psalm of protection, designed to ask the heavens to protect it, both from external and internal evils. Through his text, it is possible to learn that from every situation and human experience, whether it is good or bad, it is possible to draw valuable learning. The Psalm describes an intense abuse of power where one who causes pain and suffering, at the same time boasts of all that his power allows him to do, even if it is not correct.
With this theme, such a Psalm can be read and sung when one feels about to face certain obstacles such as, for example, requests for the removal of noxious people and oppressive and malicious situations. It is also useful to prevent and combat some evils that affect the human being from the inside out, shaking his willpower and spirit, such as sadness and disbelief. Its construction also allows it to be part of the prayers of those who seek truthfulness in all aspects of their life, as in their professional life, for example.
Next, let’s take a look at this Psalm that is made to protect those who suffer under dictatorial laws or situations, whether they originate from an insensitive employer, an abusive spouse or of any other kind:
1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?
Why do you boast all day long,
you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
2 You who practice deceit,
your tongue plots destruction;
it is like a sharpened razor.
3 You love evil rather than good,
falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
4 You love every harmful word,
you deceitful tongue!5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living.
6 The righteous will see and fear;
they will laugh at you, saying,
7 “Here now is the man
who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth
and grew strong by destroying others!”8 But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
for ever and ever.
9 For what you have done I will always praise you
in the presence of your faithful people.
And I will hope in your name,
for your name is good.
