Have you heard about the Tree of Knowledge? Why is there Good and Evil? From the beginning of times, when God created Paradise, he also created good and evil, but did we actually needed to learn about it the worst way?

What was the Tree of Knowledge?

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was one of the many trees that God made spring up out of the ground in the Garden of Eden. But unlike most of the others, this specific tree, along with the Tree of Life, was a very special one.

In that big beautiful garden, Adam and Eve could eat from whatever tree they wished, except for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God specifically instructed them that that tree was not allowed and that if they would eat from it, death would come to them.

Adam and Eve ate from the Tree

Then a serpent came and convinced Eve that God was being selfish and that they should eat from that tree. It had, in fact, beautiful fruits that were a true delight to the eyes. Besides that, and according to the serpent, that fruits would make one wise.

Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and convinced Adam to do the same.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.(Genesis 3:6)

In that moment, God appeared and forbid them to eat from the Tree of Life and He managed to guard that Tree with the cherubim and a flaming sword. He then expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.

Then the Lord God said: ‘. . . Now, let [the man] reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. (Genesis 3:22b-24)

Adam and Eve and mankind were to discover the difference between good and evil not by disobeying God, but by learning that what was God’s will was good and what was against God’s will was evil.
